Regulations on Commencement and Degree Awarding for International Bachelor Students

Article 1 : In order to standardize awarding bachelor’ degrees to international students at Nanjing Medical University (NMU), this regulation is enacted according to the “Regulations of Awarding Degrees in the People’s Republic of China” , the “Regulations of Awarding Bachelor’s Degrees to Chinese Students at NMU”, and the actual situations of managing international students in NMU.

Article 2  : International students who are attending Chinese medium classes with Chinese students should be awarded bachelor’s degree on the basis of the “Regulations of Awarding Degrees to Chinese Students at Nanjing Medical University”.

Article 3 : The qualifications of awarding the degrees are as follows:

3.1Morality

Students should abide by Chinese laws and regulations, NMU rules, and be ready to strive for the development of health enterprise as well as mankind’s physical and mental health.

3.2 Knowledge and professional skills

Students should satisfactorily complete all the curriculum and theses (including graduation design and internship) , and pass all examinations to meet requirements of the syllabus. Students should have a comprehensive grasp of basic theory, professional knowledge and the basic skills, and have some preliminary abilities to carry out professional work and scientific research before graduation.

3.3 Physical quality

Students should be physically healthy.

Article 4 : Students are not eligible for the Bachelor’s Degree if any of the following situations occur:

4.1 The student has violated relevant rules and disciplines of morality , and been punished by demerit marks on record or under observation by school or be expelled from school.

4.2 The student has been punished twice or more.

4.3 The student failed to pass one subject or more.

4.4 The student whose fault caused any serious or fatal accident with bad consequences during internship.

4.5 The student failed to pass the theoretical test or practical test of the graduation examination.

4.6 The student failed to pass HSK Band 3 or above ( or new HSK Band 4.

4.7 The student whose studying status was ‘completing study’and had not completed the curriculum or syllabus requirements.

Article 5 : The student who has ever been punished by demerit marks on record will not be awarded the Bachelor’s Degree unless:

The student has made remarkable or superior progress, and honored by written materials from the university, or he/she wins the scholarship of SIE within one year or more after punishment.

The Degree Committee of NMU has approved to award the degree after discussion on the special report submitted by the School of International Education.

Article 6 : Students ineligible for degrees caused by failing to pass the HSK Band 3or new HSK Band 4shall apply for returning to NMU to re-attend HSK within two years of graduation.Having passed HSK, students shall be awarded the Bachelor’s degree. However, the date of awarding is decided by the Degree Committee of NMU. For any reasons other than HSK, no NMU degrees shall be awarded.

Article 7 : The procedures of awarding the Bachelor’s degree are as follows:

First, the Degree Committee of the School of International Education shall put forward a list of qualified students after checking individual academic records and other supporting materials.

Second, the Degree Committee of the School of International Education shall report to the Degree Committee of NMU about students who are not eligible for degrees for further consideration.

Article 8 : The Degree Committee of NMU is fully authorized to award degrees to qualified NMU students,and students verified by the Degree Committee of NMU will be awarded degree by NMU.

Article 9 : This regulation is explained by the School of International Education which is entrusted by the Degree Committee of NMU and takes effect on the issue date.

* Results of HSK can be approved by SIE only after students attend HSK which is organized by NMU.
