Chapter I. General Rules
Article 1. This policy is designed to encourage international students excellent in character and learning to apply for NMU’s international graduate program, and to standardize the evaluation of entrance scholarships for international graduates. We have considered the actual situation in this initiative.
Article 2. An open, fair, equitable, and merit-based principle will apply to the evaluation of entrance scholarship for international graduates to ensure the quality of the evaluation and the authority of the evaluation results.
Article 3. All admitted students will be automatically evaluated by NMU.
Article 4. The Scholarship Evaluation Panel of the School of International Education is responsible for the organization and management of the evaluation of the entrance scholarship for international graduates.
Chapter II. Scholarship Types and Eligibility
Article 5. The entrance scholarships for international graduates include Chinese Government Scholarship (Category A and B), Jiangsu Government Scholarship, Nanjing Government Scholarship, NMU Full Tuition Scholarship, and NMU Half Tuition Scholarship.
Article 6. Master’s or doctoral students who applied for international graduate programs and got admitted to NMU are eligible.
Article 7. The funding period for master’s students is generally 2-3 years, and for doctoral students is generally 3 years. The content and criteria of the scholarship are described in the current year’s NMU International Graduate Admissions Brochure.
Chapter III: Selection Criteria
Article 8. Selection criteria
(1) The applicant has not received any other form of scholarship.
(2) The applicant has obtained the admission status of international graduates of NMU.
(3) Students applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program for Universities must also meet the following requirements.
(a) Degree and age:
The master’s student must have a bachelor’s degree, and under 35 years old.
The doctoral student must have a master’s degree, and under 40 years old.
(b) Applicants must apply for the scholarship before the scholarship application deadline while applying for NMU’s International Graduate Program.
Chapter IV: Evaluation Procedure
Article 9. Evaluation Procedure
(1) Evaluation Method
The Scholarship Evaluation Panel is responsible for the leadership, organization, coordination, and management of the evaluation of the entrance scholarship for international graduates. The panel will design practical scholarship evaluation rules based on NMU’s annual funding program, discipline development, etc., determine the recipient list, and leave comments on the list. All the panel members will sign and seal, then the panel secretary will submit the above materials to the Admissions Office of the School of International Education within the specified time.
(2) Recommendation Criteria
The panel will fully consider the applicants’ professional foundation, research potential, language proficiency, and overall ability before making a comprehensive decision and determining the recipient list. Priority will be given to those who meet the following conditions if other conditions are equal.
(a) Students with outstanding scientific research skills, research potential, and papers.
(b) Students with solid professional foundation, complete knowledge structure, and excellent course scores.
(c) Students with higher scores in HSK 4 and above, excellent language exam scores (IELTS, GRE, TOFEL, etc.), and better communication skills.
(d) Students with higher world rankings in their alma mater and disciplines.
Article 10. Public Notice of Scholarship List
The scholarship evaluation results will be notified to the public on NMU’s International Student Admissions webpage (http://intladmission.njmu.edu.cn) in batches in July each year. Any objection can be filed within seven working days.
Article 11. Scholarship Inquiry
After the public notice period, students can log into NMU’s International Student Service System (http://admission.njmu.edu.cn) to inquire about their scholarship evaluation results.
Chapter V: Other Rules
Article 12. Annual Review of Scholarship Recipients
The Student Work Office of the School of International Education is responsible for the annual review of the study and research of international graduates who have received Chinese Government Scholarships. All awarded students are required to take the annual review from April to May each year. Those who succeed the review will continue or resume their qualification for the scholarship, otherwise the scholarship will be suspended or cancelled.
Article 13. The School of International Education reserves all rights to interpret this policy. This policy will be in effect as of the date of the announcement. If there is any inconsistency between this policy and the previous one, this one will prevail.
